Inequalities and poverty have enormous negative implications for the enjoyment of human rights, especially social rights such as the right to health, the right to food, the right to housing, the right to education, and the right to water and sanitation. Across the world, these inequalities are driving protest movements that have rocked governments and focused international attention on the issue of inequality, non-discrimination, and the importance of achieving the SDGs ‘leaving no one behind.’
URG has previously worked on the causes and consequences of inequalities related to the right to education, and currently works on a taxonomy of inequalities as they relate to the work of the international human rights system, conducting country-specific case studies to gain insights on how the human rights mechanisms address the different typologies of inequalities.
