Reinvigoration of the Human Rights Council’s work on capacity-building and technical assistance under its agenda item 10

On 6th July 2023, the Permanent Missions of Luxembourg and Thailand, and the Universal Rights Group held an informal breakfast meeting with Ambassadors and experts to discuss the reinvigoration of the Human Rights Council’s work on capacity-building and technical assistance under its agenda item 10.

The aim of the breakfast was to discuss ideas for reform of the Council’s work under agenda item 10, to make it more inclusive, country led, and impactful in line with the Council’s mandate under GA resolution 60/251.  The organisers sought to share ideas and proposals ahead of the enhanced interactive dialogue scheduled to take place on Tuesday 11 July on how to strengthen the Council’s work under agenda items 10.

During the event, participants were distributed copies of URG’s latest policy brief ‘A diamond in the rough’: How to strengthen the Human Rights Council’s delivery of technical assistance & capacity-building support (Item 10 reform).
